Laura Barrett, Music Coordinator

Hi! I’m Laura and I’m happy to be serving Cornerstone Church as its Worship Coordinator. What, exactly, does that mean? Well, my primary roles at Cornerstone are to work with the pastor in worship development, to plan and schedule music, musicians and technical personnel for each week’s services, to coordinate volunteers for different areas of ministry, to organize music resources, to lead band rehearsals each week, and to serve with the volunteer music team as keyboardist and back-up vocalist.

My life’s passion has always been music, and even though I’ve spent most of my career teaching music in pre-school through graduate school, I find that this is where God wants me right now. It’s a very interesting and rewarding job: I love being able to use my passion for music in a way that allows me to worship God and hopefully lead others to a place where they can also encounter God’s presence!

One of the cool things about this job is getting to work with so many people who really want to focus on serving Jesus, not just using their gifts in church to serve their own desires. And when we get out of the way, God can do great things through us!

If you have a musical background, a heart for worship, and wish to serve God through music, I can assist you in finding your place in music ministry. If you enjoy working behind the scenes and are detail oriented, you may be interested in joining our tech team. Knowledge of power point and sound systems is a plus, but if you have a good ear for quality and balance, we’re always willing to train people who truly desire to serve God.
